  1. Awesome news Kaia! 🙂 As always, blessed by your blog! My favorite color is yellow 🙂 And I would love a bridal shower session! Since I will be moving to Portland soon, the more pictures i have of my family & friends to decorate the walls, the better!

    • At this rate of commenting you most certainly can! You have to at least get creative though so Indonesia read the same comment over and over again 🙂 For example, in your next one you can enter according to the rules. And in the other you can give me an awesome quote or question or fun fact…

  2. Hello Kaia! Congratulations on your 200th blog post! I love reading them each day. My favorite color is blue! I would love to use the session in a few different ways. Senior portraits for Danielle (yep, hard to believe), maybe family pictures, and engagement pictures for my fiance and I. 🙂

    • Kelly I’m glad you asked because I should mention that in the post 🙂 The 200 minutes are good until the end of 2013 and I will consider applying the time as a discount on a wedding or a birth photography session. More in that later!

  3. Congratulations Kaia! Your work is beautiful and you deserve every good thing coming your way!!

My favorite color is of the tropical ocean… So aquas, lime greens, yellow mixture 🙂

I would use the session for Rylee’s first birthday! That and maybe split it up for a family session 🙂 we have yet to have any professional photos done!

    • Hey Jenna thanks to much for commenting! I got my #200 this morning but if you do find you still want birthday coverage or a family session just holler at me because I would be so honored to work for you 🙂 Happy Memorial Day!

  4. I’m also going to help get you to your 200th comment! 😉 Loved working with you on our wedding, engagement, and gift photos! We would use the session for family photos in the future!

  5. btw- I loved following Josh’s Citizen Way tour updates. Looks like it was really successful for them! I’m so happy he’s home and you two can spend lots of quality time together.

  6. Hmm, well I have to say that my favorite color is blue but, lately I’m in love with all the neon colors for summer. I love your work Kaia and the way your writing is so genuine and relatable. I think if I won I would either pick a family photo shoot or if I still had a horse a personal shoot 🙂

  7. Hey Kaia, totally forgot to mention, my favorite color is green-for frogs!!! I can’t wait to work with you in the future for our big life development photography! 🙂

  8. Aha! Well, my current favorite color is midnight blue. I love the little bit of yellow in it if you look very closely. I would cherish some family photos.

    • Hey Danielle thanks for commenting! And you have the best favorite color 🙂 I had my #200 this morning at 8:39 but if you do want a family portrait, I would be honored to do that with you! Happy Memorial Day and thanks again!

  9. Hey Kaia! Just wanted to say thanks for your beautiful work at our wedding! There are a ton of absolutely gorgeous pictures. My favorite colors happen to be the ones we chose for our wedding. Hope you get up to 200 comments! I would also totally be one to keep adding comments to get it up there 🙂

  10. Happy Tuesday! I am a West Ridger and have loved following Josh. Honestly….I did not know about your blog until I saw his FB post today. Reading through it today…you have a lot to share. I LOVED your post about the 10 things you have done to keep focused on your marriage. I just remarried and I am really focused on keeping God in our marriage. Not often we old folks can appreciate lessons from you young folks!!! I look forward to reading more! So…my favorite color now is PINK as in Breast Cancer Pink! I am doing the Avon walking in 11 days! Then back to reality…RED!! I would love a session with my 4 amazing grandchildren. There is nothing better than being Nana!!

    • Thanks for commenting Tami and saying hey! I am always so happy when any words or pictures I share inspire or instruct. Just a sign that God uses even me 🙂

    • It actually was my mom. She thought I had a gift and I quickly realized I loved it. That’s the short version 🙂 I like your question though so I think I’ll make a blog post out of it! Thanks for the inspiration!

  11. Yay Kaia!! 🙂 Your blog posts make my day! 🙂 K’m glad you post them, and express what you’re thinking. You inspire me to get creative! 🙂

    • Of course! I suppose you could really get creative although perhaps it would be a waste since you always get free photography 🙂

  12. Great work Kaia! My favorite color is blue and I would want to do a photo shoot of my beautiful wife and I, maybe in the Indiana Dunes, so you wouldn’t have to travel as far:)

  13. You know I love pictures! I can’t wait for you to take our wedding pictures… a little more than 4 months away!

  14. Hello beautiful (: Congrats on your 200th post! You go girl! My favorite color is tiffany blue. I would love to have a session with my sisters or with some of my closest friends!!

ps. I LOVE looking at the pictures you post all the time. They are wonderful!

  15. So does it just keep going til you get to 200? 50 is almost there…on a side note, I loved the personalized CD covers that you made and really the entire packaging of our photos. It was all wonderful and each picture brings back fantastic memories.

  16. Hey Kaia,

Great to see all the progress you have made throughout the years! You’ve worked so hard, and it’s great seeing you succeeding!
Well, guess what! I would like to be apart of this giveaway. My favorite color is navy blue!
I would love to do a photoshoot with David. I would like a an anniversary shoot in our wedding attire. Since I had food poisoning during the wedding David and I didn’t get that many individual shots together, so I have always wanted to do another shoot in our wedding attire (but more relaxed). And maybe a second shoot again with David and maybe even milo. We’ve never gotten a family shot before.
    Again, congrats with the blog!!!!

    • Hey I got my winner at 8:39 this morning but if you do want an anniversary shoot I would love to help you out with that! I’ve always loved opportunities to do more “wedding” photos, Josh and I did it 🙂 Anyway, keep me in mind if you decide you want to do it! Thanks for your encouragement and support on this post! Makes my heart sing!

  17. Hey Kaia,

Just checking in to see how you are doing on your 200th blog post again. I always love seeing your blogs and photos, I can really see how much your photography skills have improved over the years. Hope all is well.

  18. My favorite color is Pink! So say I were to get pregnant shortly after the wedding… would this be able to be used in 2014 for maternity?

  19. I absolutely LOVE reading your blog and looking at the beautiful pictures you take. I would love to win a session with you. It would give us a great excuse to take a family trip to Chicago 🙂

  20. I love your visual aesthetic when it comes to photography. You always seem to find the beauty in the simple and ordinary as well as the extraordinary. I am just curious, what is your favorite type of photoshoot?

  21. Kaia has the sweetest spirit, and is an amazing photographer, as evidenced by the lovely pictures she is always posting. 200 minutes would be a super fun and special gift to receive

  22. I agree with what everyone is saying. Kaia’s photography is gorgeous and it doesn’t seem to matter what type of pictures you are looking for. If I won I would definitely drive from Philadelphia to be sure to use the 200 minutes.

  23. If I win, I will bring Bailey with me since you guys love Boxers, And she can be in the photos too! Wonder how well she would ride from Texas to Chicago? Lol

  24. I suppose, technically my favorite color is “Purple Mountain Majesty” from the Crayola 64 Count Crayon Box…I’m a little weird and think of my colors in the form of Crayola names. It gave my high school chemistry teacher a great laugh when grading my homework.

  25. Another thought. If i win, can I gift the 200 minutes to someone who maybe has wanted to do a session with you but wasnt able to afford it? Or maybe a couple of someones?

  26. I would also bring my lovely wife. We would love to get more shots together and maybe be able to have her get some shots back in her wedding dress a year later. More relaxed and whatnot.

  27. Hi Kaia,

My favorite color blue especially like Caribbean blue 🙂 and I would like personal or family portraits done. If I won 🙂

  28. My name is Ian. My favorite color is black. And I’d like you to photograph my life. Or maybe Erin and I would hold a swanky party. Yes. That’s it. We’ll hold a wild, crazy party and call it “An Evening with Gatsby.” It’ll be black tie, over the top, and photographed. 🙂

    • Ian!! Thanks for entering! Tickles my little heart 🙂 I think you’re ideas are too awesome to not do! Micayla won at 8:39 this morning but if you ever want to hold such an awesome party or want a photo stalker I’m all over that! Just wanted you to know because I LOVE these inventive ideas 🙂

  29. My name is Erin and I love the color green in any shade. I’d use 200 minutes of photography to go downtown and have pictures taken in Wrigleyville because its cute and vintage and cozy. 🙂

  30. I would love to stay up all night commenting to get you to 200, but I must go to bed so I can be up at 5:00 am to work. I will add more tomorrow

  31. Hello Kaia,
Yeah! 200th blog! Favorite color is still blue, any shade really. Have so many ideas for these pictures. Engagement maybe
    Kelly

  32. Anything…hmmm…well, I love the photos you take of your dogs and the stories you share about them. It makes me want to get a dog more and more every time I see one of your anecdotes. Also, the dogs get such a great personality from what you share!

  33. Kaia, I loved your photography from the first moment I read the name: A Sunshine Moment. It told me that you look for photo opportunities around every corner! Having the mindset that every sharable moment is and can be a happy one made me know that you were the perfect photographer for our wedding! Thank you.

  34. I was on my way home to MN to visit my family and celebrate my daddy’s 60th birthday. Along the way, I had to go through Chicago. I forget sometimes how many good memories I have dealing with Chicago and it’s one of my favorite city skylines. It would only be a 13 hour drive from Philly to the Chicago area; I think that would be a lovely area to have as a venue for a photo shoot!

  35. Jackson, I’m not sure those are legal comments…lol. Maybe sometime we will actually get to meet in person. Maybe if we win the photoshoot we can meet up. Micayla said you live near Chicago too.

  36. For my moms birthday I would love to give her pictures of all us kids together! I think she would be blown away especially if we kept it secret 😀

    • Ooo good question!!!! I’m going to ask this for my QOTD today! The best thing for me is immediately snuggling with my dogs. Sometimes I have to snuggle for quite some time before I feel better but I always do. On a warm night, sitting outside in the quite is great too 🙂 Dogs are the best though 🙂

      • Me too!! Dogs ARE the best!!! Second for me is a long soak in a hot bath with a good book

  37. Morology is the study of ridiculous conversations…which this blog is NOT that. You have such an interesting blog, Kaia. I love having a glimpse into the window that is your life. I have to agree with my husband and say I love the posts about your dogs. I love that they always seem to cheer you up. I hope our future dog will have just as much personality as yours do.

  38. I think I’ll answer your QOTD on here, rather than FB. After a long day at work, if I don’t fall asleep first, I like to dabble in a few of my hobbies: painting (which I quite a few I’m behind on), reading, embroidery, and I’ve just started working on paper-quilling. Almost all fairly mindless, but oh so rewarding.

    • Ooo another good QOTD 🙂 I’m really feeling Italy on my horizons lately! I’ve always wanted to go! Maybe for mine and Josh’s 5 or 10 year 🙂 You?

      • Italy and Germany!! We have a girl in each country that were Foreign Exchange students with us and are still family 🙂

    • Oh, and why… I think I would love the culture there and since there is so much history and beauty I could spend the day photographing and writing and come home with some really great stuff! Also the food too 🙂

    • Man you guys are equipping me with all my QOTD for the week! 🙂 I love to make anything from scratch when I have the time. I also love making salads because I think chopping all the veggies is a lot of fun! You?

  39. I love chopping things, too. I prefer things from scratch, especially when I talk about cooking with my co-workers and they are impressed because they don’t cook from scratch very often. I love making tacos!

  40. Wow! The comments are really taking off. I think at this point we are all committed to getting you to your goal. Another one of my favorite things is mythical creatures. There are so many amazing animals in this world, but the things that come out of different religions and oral histories and the imagination are amazing. My personal favorites are dragons and phoenixes.

  41. Pants…lol. The development of language and slang is extraordinarily interesting. Words become “forbidden” but then after years of people using them they become more and more commonplace. Therefore, does the word loose its meaning and power or has society just become more “dirty”?

  42. Did you know that the Phantom of the Opera has been running on Broadway in its original form since 1988. This year marks its 25th Anniversary and the technology involved has only recently been updated (within the last 5 years). The original designs by the artists who premiered the production are still completely intact.

  43. It was interesting to learn in my high school English class the development of language during the invasions in parts of Europe. After the French invaded the Angelo Saxtons, the French considered many of their (the Angelo Saxtons) words to be vulgar, thus is where we got many of our curse words. So instead of saying, “Pardon my French,” what we really should be saying is, “Pardon my Angelo Saxton.”

  44. An hour and a half til the deadline, but only half an hour til work. Unfortunately the theatre does not stop for holidays. In 2006 the word “Google” was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary as a verb.

  45. In order to bring it back to photography…Every two minutes the world takes as many photographs as were taken in the entirety of the 1800’s. I think this can be both a blessing and a curse as with every other technology.

  46. The most dogs ever owned by one person were 5,000 Mastiffs owned by Kubla Khan.

This man might have been certifiably crazy! 5,000 dogs requires a lot of kibble and hours of walks. 😉

  47. Kodak sold the brownie camera in 1900 and sold it for $1. It’s film only costed $0.15! Wouldn’t you love those prices, Kaia? Although, your camera produces MUCH better quality than that camera 🙂

  48. Now all that is left is 1 factoid about every 2 minutes and we will have commented on your blog 200 times 🙂 Your idea for this contest is great! It has been really fun trying to figure out what to write and reading what everyone else has found!

  49. Apps for Apes is a program that a zoo in the U.S. has run for about a year where they give orangoutangs the opportunity to use technology–in particular an iPad. The orangoutangs have proven to be very responsive to the devise and have learned how to “button” the tablet.

  50. Instead of Aid Dogs, some people with serious disabilities or spinal cord injuries have been given monkeys by an organization called Helping Hands. In one documentary these “Monkey Helpers” showed off their skills by making a bag of microwave popcorn and feeding a man with a spinal cord injury.

  51. Since its debut in 2001, the iPod has become the most popular music player available. Everyone should take the opportunity to use their iPod or iTunes accounts to check out Citizen’s Way new CD “Love is the Evidence.”

  52. Hello!!
So exciting!! Thought if another way to use the 200 minutes….what about for Haily’s 16th birthday?

  53. Spielberg, director of “E.T.” wanted to use M&M’s as the candy to lure ET out of the closet, however, he could not retain the rights. Therefore, the candy was changed to “Reese’s Pieces.”

  54. I really like the fun facts on here. Thought I would share a couple of my own.
    Butterflies taste with their feet.

  55. There are too many favorite childhood cartoons of mine: Popeye, Garfield and Friends, Dennis the Mennis, Bonkers, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes, Mickey Mouse, Charlie Brown, the Flintstones, The Jetsons, the Pink Panther…yup, too many 🙂

  56. The Beatles 1966 hit ‘Yesterday’ has been covered more times than any other song ever written. However, the song’s original title was ‘Scrambled Eggs’, which doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

  57. About 180 comments! We are getting so close!! It’s getting down to the wire! Speaking of wire. On June 30, 1859 “The Great Blondin” crossed Niagra Falls on a tightrope!

    • Ooo good one!!! I think I would pick one of Josh and I before we got engaged. Maybe in Africa or Colorado. Or maybe our first kiss wedding picture 🙂

  58. It’s illegal to carry ice cream in your back pocket in Kentucky, because they have a law that states, “If it follows you home, it’s yours.” People used to put ice cream in their back pockets to lure certain animals out of other peoples’ yards and cause them to follow them home instead.

  59. Every day, more money is printed for the game Monopoly than for the U.S. Treasury. The company that owns monopoly, Parker Brothers, prints about 50 billion dollars of Monopoly money every year. That works out as 15,140 dollars of Monopoly in each Monopoly set.

  60. At this point in my life I would definitely have to say I cherish some of our wedding photos the most! Who is going to be the extremely lucky winner??? Kaia, do you have a favorite personal photograph that you have taken?

    • My favorite work usually comes when I’m playing around or working on a fine art photography project. I still love my senior show work (http://asunshinemoment.com/2011/10/13/art/water/). Other than that, a certain boudoir picture I took in December stands out, pictures of our family gatherings, and a handful of newborn photos 🙂 Great question!

  61. Just a quick note… right now I have replied 23 times including this one. I will stop until after 9 because I would like to get to 200 without my replies so as you’re looking at the comment total subtract 23 from that. After 9 I will reply to some more fun stuff. I will not ignore you, but just for ease of keeping a total 🙂 You guys ROCK! We are almost there!!!!

  62. The photos from my fourth birthday party are some of my favorites. That party was where some of the last pictures were taken of my childhood neighbor and really good friend before he was in a severe car accident that changed his life forever.

  63. It costs the US Mint approximately 1.5 cents to make every 1 cent coin (and approximately 6 cents to make the nickel, worth 5 cents). This means that they lose money on every penny and nickel they produce – a total of $22million in 2009 alone.
Then think of how many get thrown away each day.

  64. During that fourth birthday party, we visited a place called “Oxbow Park” where you can see animals indigenous to MN. They have a pen for buffalo. We were standing on the observation deck, and the largest buffalo came charging at us and rammed his head into the fence. That was such an exciting experience.

  65. Kaia, just saw a really good question. Do you have a favorite photo or favorite event you photographed at? You take such great pictures it would be hard to choose just one.

  66. It’s illegal to get fish drunk in Ohio. During prohibition, moonshiners would drink in their boats in the middle of lakes and if they saw the police coming by to patrol, they would toss their moonshine into the lake so as not to be caught with it. Thus, possibly causing the fish to become drunk.

  67. My single favorite photograph is one my mom took of my daughter when she was 3. She had just gotten out of the lake and had a towel wrapped around her. She looked up at the camera with a look of pure happiness, and pure innocence. It even won in a national contest my mom entered it in and was published in a book.

  68. Humans, apes, most old world monkeys, ground squirrels, and many species of fish, birds, and insects have well-developed color vision. However, it’s worth noting that 7 or 8 percent of human males are relatively or completely deficient in color vision.

  69. Lots of American states have official state flowers, state songs, state animals, and so on… but Wisconsin looks set to break new ground by naming an official state microbe . A bill currently progressing through the state assembly would make Lactococcus lactis – the bacterium that helps turn milk into cheese – one of its official insignias.

  70. Another fact about onions. It you chew a toothpick while cutting an onion it is supposed to help you not cry.
*this did not work for me

  71. Bananas may not have seeds (and still be considered a fruit) because botanists believe there was a mutation that caused a banana to become sterile (there are some varieties of banana that do produce seeds, but are inedible and have bad tasting flesh). The dark spots in the modern banana are believed to be remnants of these earlier seeds.

  72. The longest place name in the USA is Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg in Massachusetts , with 45 letters (49 if you include ‘Lake’). Earlier this year, local officials were forced to change some road signs, after they discovered they’d spelled it as Lake Chargoggagoggmanchaoggagoggchaubunaguhgamaugg instead of the correct Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. How do you even say it?

  73. They make a new banana plant grow in the same way vegetables are grown: taking a part of the banana plant and planting it elsewhere. Will bananas become the other confused fruit (like the tomato) and sometimes be considered a vegetable?

  74. Most Muppets are left-handed. The reason for this is that most puppeteers are right-handed and operate the Muppet’s head with their favoured hand, leaving the left one to control the arms. Muppets operated by more than one puppeteer, such as the Swedish Chef, are immune to this effect.

  75. American Corey Taylor faked his own death in 2007 – even going to the extent of forging a death certificate… just so he could get out of his mobile phone contract early without paying a £105 fee. Sadly for the enterprising Mr Taylor, the phone company caught on and forced him to pay up.

  76. One of my favorite past times is watching movies. It is a great way to get out of our world for a little bit and delve into a new world. Catharsis! One of my favorite vocabulary words. Everyone should experience it every day!

  77. During his life, Austrian Hans Steininger was renowned for having the world longest beard. Unfortunately, the four and a half feet of facial hair proved to be his downfall. Trying to run away from a fire in 1567, he forgot to roll his beard up, tripped over it, and broke his neck.

  78. Few know that toothpaste, because its composition, can be used for other purposes. In case of burns, herpes or scratches, you can apply a little toothpaste on the affected area at regular intervals and you will quickly get rid of troubles.

    • Hey Ashlyn! Thanks for entering! 🙂 I had my winner just before you posted but if you would like a family session still I would LOVE that! Feel free to reply back or email me at asunshinemoment@gmail.com to get started 🙂 Thanks again for you commenting support!

    • Hey Jean! Thanks for entering! I got my winner just before your post. If you want to connect about doing pictures though I still would love that! If there’s between June 3-6 would work let me know because I’ll actually be in town then 🙂

  79. Hello! My favorite color is green! 🙂
Um, I don’t know what kind of pictures I want! Haha 😉 you decide!
